Venerable Vijitha arrived to Australia in 1993 as a resident monk at Springvale’s Sri Lankan Buddist Temple, Victoria. He transformed it to become a highly successful Sri Lankan place for worship over the following six years. Venerable Vijitha moved into the Keysborough premises in 2001. He established cordial relationships with all Temples in Melbourne, especially those belonging to the Cambodian, Laotian and Burmese communities. He has been a regular Buddhist service provider at the Dhamma sarana Vihara and also ran a Sunday School that was very popular. It has two sections Dhamma and Sinhala Language and culture. Over 300 children attended Sunday school. His popularity and rapport with children is remarkable.
